Mission Statement
West Virginia State Community and
Technical College
The mission of
West Virginia State Community and Technical College as an
administratively-linked institution to West Virginia State University is to
provide comprehensive higher education and workforce training programs
and services of superior quality that are financially and geographically
accessible and that meet the individual, business, and community needs
of the service district. (Approved by
the West Virginia State University Board of Governors - September 6, 2001
and the Higher Education Policy Commission on November 16, 2001.)
To achieve this
mission, the principles that guide the West Virginia State Community and
Technical College are:

provide programs and courses of instruction through the associate degree
level, encompassing occupational-technical education, college transfer
education, general education, developmental education, continuing
education, and workforce development.

offer a comprehensive program of student development services.

To
provide a broad range of instructional technologies, methods, materials,
facilities, and instructional support services that will accommodate students
of varied learning styles, backgrounds, interest, and abilities.

create and maintain an educational environment that facilitates learning
through a curriculum that broadens perspectives, leads to responsible
citizenship, and set standards that support the highest level of
performance.

serve as an important linkage between secondary education and four year
colleges and universities.

enrich our service region by making available resources in people,
facilities, libraries, and programming.
